What's your grouse gun?

Probably been asked before, but still curious. I'm usually out with a Rem. 11-87 20ga. or Rem. 870 Wingmaster 16ga.

Release the hounds!!!

Sweet 16 Auto 5 but a Sauer 12 and a BUL 12 also get the occasional nod.
To think of all the scatterguns that have been used would bring a salty tear to a lump of coal.

GBE was correct....decades ago.

Rory has a good owner now....lucky lad.

When you are up to your butt in alligators, it is hard to remember your intent was to drain the swamp. Stay focused!

Re: What's your grouse gun?

Browning Citori 12 ga. Improved/Modified I shoot light loads for grouse easy to kill but not always easy to get in the pattern. I shoot 7 1/2 in the improved barrel and 6's in the modified barrel.

What I really like about the gun is it fits me perfectly and I can select the barrel to shoot first when the bird flushes...Improved for those close shots and Modified for the longer shots.

When I'm out for a walk in the woods, I take my ultra lightweight Stevens 410 Bolt action. Don't have to worry about cleaning Grouse.

Re: What's your grouse gun?

This is my favorite of several hammerguns that I carry for grouse and woodcock. 16 ga. Belgium guild gun built in the 1880's.

Decided a few years ago that I had shot and shot at enough wild flushed grouse and now only shoot at pointed birds.

The essence of the shot is how you shoot the bird, not how many. George Bird Evans
