Sounds like there is a number of pro Sundays hunting guys. Personally I don't care one way or the other but then I have more free time than most so I wouldn't hunt on sunday if they legalized it. I think the sunday ban must be an old throw back to the Pa 'Blue Laws'. I recall when I first moved to Pa back in 1974 I was amazed to learn that in some communities a lot of business was closed on Wednesday. I'd never heard of anything like that before.
Nope come on up get your license and shoot starlings, crows, and english sparrows and shoot as many as you want on sunday.Run your dogs if you want. You buying your license pays for the gamelands you'd be using. Day of rest? If you want to do something do it.Also if you get furbearers license shoot some fox and coyotes for coyotes you can hunt without furbearers.
X2, plenty of species and activities in PA on sundays, enjoy
you know , if it was a matter of
"giving land owners a day off"
"the general public needs a safe day"
i'd be willing to give up 2 days mid week for the 1 extra sunday
The reality is hunters are the only outdoor user group banned from participating by law from their activity of choice on one day of the week. Unfortunately we have some hunters that wish us to be continue to be excluded while allowing all other user groups to participate in their choice of activities whenever they wish.
When we come to the conclusion that fishing should only be bullheads and mountain biking should only be allowed in backyards on Sundays, then the arguement that hunters should have to sit at home on Sundays carries some weight.
Btw, fishing and mountain biking cause as much trespass issues as hunting does and are both more dangerous.
Edited to add that my post was being composed as 4c made his so I didn't see the redirect.
Offroad guys aren't even allowed to ride on State property. Special Quad trails have been setup, but what about the Jeep guys and the Dirt Bike guys? We don't even get One day. I'd love to have an issue like hunters do.
OP, as you've heard there is plenty to do on Sundays. Hunting is one of the things that you can do on Sunday in this Commonwealth. Enjoy your time and hook up with someone in the area to show you around and pass on the laws.
If you enjoy hunting please find a way to give back to the sport. Our children will thank you.
To the Jeep guys and dirt bike guys, buy some property that you can call your own and you can have at it all you like. On the other hand, many hunters own their own land that they cannot hunt on if they like on a Sunday afternoon.
Unless you are the lead dog, the view is always the same...
