Infestation of rabbits

Anyone else seeing large numbers of rabbits? Jacobus York County has way too many. This year seems exceptional. Seeing plenty of foxes and hawks too.

Properly trained, A man can be a dog's best friend.

Re: Infestation of rabbits

I'm going small game hunting with a bow and a blunt tip at my dads 10 acres in the fall. Our garden is taken a dive.

Re: Infestation of rabbits

Ive always believed that rabbits season should run thru summer due to the impact they can have on gardens. I know quite a few who plug em all summer with pellet rifles just to keep em at bay. Wonder if the PGC ever considered the idea. They can be brutal on young vegetables.

The only problem is that by fall they have found other food sources and probably moved somewhat, and at that point all the damage is done.

No such thing as too many rabbits, everything eats them, including humans.

When you are up to your butt in alligators, it is hard to remember your intent was to drain the swamp. Stay focused!

Re: Infestation of rabbits

This time of year I always see lots of cottontail around. Come fall however their numbers start to diminish. Once the foliage thins out they become easier targets for predators, avian included.

I'll be more than happy to bring the hounds to help you reduce your rabbit population this fall.

RIP Tuff 98-11, So many hunts, so many good times!

You need to contact the GC and request a truck load of coyotes!

Re: Infestation of rabbits

There won't be many around come fall. It happens everywhere each summer just part of the cycle. They really start getting killed off come hunting season by the predators. Hawks are not a major issue this time of the year bc of the cover once it thins out they become a big time issue.
