Their on the Move

Finally seeing some woodcock in my coverts after superstorm Sandy. Moved 5 yesterday in Cambria Co. with 3 nice points. The first two were sitting tight in thick aspen saplings and needed stepped on to flush. These flew away unscathed after I gave them the 2 shot salute as I practiced my contortionist moves in the tight cover. The next one we found in more open cover and 7/8 oz. of #8 1/2 from the right barrel of the little 16 ga. Belgium hammergun brought him down.
Emma with the retrieve.

Re: Their on the Move

Nice looking dog and the gun is lovely too! I have a big soft spot for the vintage European stuff and still think they represent the best value out there in older firearms. I've got two Belgian guns and a nice little German 16 from 1915.

Re: Their on the Move

Wild birds with a hammergun is very impressive. I had an LC Smith hammer double for a while, and I can't imagine anyone ever killing a grouse with one.

Nice pictures!
