More birds this year

Before the storm showed up my dad, uncle and I jumped 9-10 birds on game lands in Greene County. Also saw 3 in a field next to the game lands.

Thanks to the PGC for stocking more birds.

Re: More birds this year

There are snobs out there who deride the PGC pheasant stocking program. I think we'd all do well to remember that stocked pheasants are the only game in town for some people. I haven't hunted them for years but certainly don't look down on people who do. Glad you guys had fun!

Re: More birds this year

Since archery was extended years ago i have not stepped foot in the pheasant fields. For the past 2 years though I have made it a point to get out a couple days to chase them, and forgot what I was missing. I miss way more then I get, but it is still a great time never the less. Thanks PGC!

Stocked birds provide something to hunt where there might not be.

I hope the PGC realizes that and I think they certainly have.

Re: More birds this year

Pheasant are not native to this continent. They were "stocked" from Asia a long time ago.

I enjoy chasing them down, and I won't wait for the truck ever.

Re: More birds this year

There have been lots of birds, cudos to the commission for the excellent opportunities...they're putting them in some obscure places as well to spread out the hunters. It's been great fun for me, my son, who can't shoot them yet but tags along eagerly for every hunt and my young flushing dog who is getting in some great work and learning something new each time out. I don't have time for snobs...the value is in the experience and there is a time and place for everything.

Re: More birds this year

The first hunting I was introduced to was pheasant hunting when my Uncles took me & my cousin out when we were about 10, from that moment when the first bird flushed I was hooked & will always get out to hunt pheasants.
