No pheasents

So i headed out this morning with the dog to the Newville Gamelands in Cumberland County, Per what they PGC put on there stocking numbers there were to be 520 birds stocked this week. Well lets say we saw one bird. So where are all the birds. we went from the fields to the woods and nothing. Even last week i hunted with a far amount of guys and we all went empty handed? Anyone else hunt there?

i hunt there. not this year though. i know it's put and take. funny to say but when they throw them off the truck and you're in the right place there's a lot of action.

Re: No pheasents

On Friday, we ran into the Stocking Truck. There were a line of Cars and Trucks following it. The one Game Land parking lot looked like Wal-Mart on Christmas Eve. Didn`t even think about stopping....

Re: No pheasents

Was out on Friday as well and ran into the stocking truck for Washington county on my way out of the game lands. I can honestly say there was no one following it around. In fact the game warden was out at the stock locations to stop people from doing what was mentioned. I've been out three times since the season started and have had 20 + flushes every trip! I think the game commission has done an awsome job in south west part of the state. I've found if you get away from the crowds you can hunt all day and constantly flush birds.

Re: No pheasents

I was out yesterday at a local gameland and got one rooster.
It was busy the last few days but still a few birds around.

I'd rather be fishing or hunting!

Re: No pheasents

I'm pretty sure someone following a stocking truck would be wasting their time. i hope.

Re: No pheasents

Gentlemen,
If you want to eliminate the truck following crazies,
start hunting wild grouse and woodcock on the northern tier.
Nobody pays attention to the small stocking down around the lake when they have the youth Pheasant hunt, in fact my friend James advised me, this year because of the high school home comings in our area, no youngsters were there to Pheasant hunt either. Our upland way of life here in Potter/Tioga centers around wild Grouse and Woodcock, come join us and you will never see a truck follower.

Re: No pheasents

If they are not following the truck they are sitting in the
parking lot waiting for them to come stock the birds. For
me and probably many of the pheasant hunters it's more
about the dog getting to hunt then myself. And as of now
no matter where you hunt pheasants in pa (preserves, sgl,
or stock your own) it is put and take hunting.

I'd rather be fishing or hunting!
