Pointing Grouse

OK to all the grouse hunter that have pointing dogs i am just trying to get a fill for some of your averages on out of all the birds that you flush in a given hunt how many of them do the dogs point? I don't shoot any birds that just wild flush or that my dog might bump. This year my dogs are right around 40-50% of all the birds that flush they are pointing. Just wondering on what is the average points to flushes.

It's not a very good one. The last Saturday we had a very strong continual breeze, my eldest dog had two of his points at that range. I released and let him relocate on both, he cut the distance in half and my friend got a shot at one and missed. I got saw the other but didn't get a shot.
In the early season I'd say we were at 70% and the late season dropped to about 50% and I think we could keep the second season average high if we switched from a bell to a beeper and gps collar but it's not worth the $700 for me.

If guns cause crime, mine must be broken.
