Handgunning for Squirrels

How many of you guys hunt squirrels with a handgun? And for those who do, what's your setup (description and or pictures)? I love chasing squirrels with a .22 and hate the shotgun because of the lull in activity between shots and the nagging ringing in my ears afterwards, but on my last couple hunts I feel like the squirrels are crawling all over me. I've had quite a few squirrels within 10 yards and at that distance I can kill them, but have to move too much to crank the scope down and follow up shots on multiples do not happen. I appreciate any insight that could be offered.

It may be a poor choice of words but I am smart enough to understand what you meant.
