Went out in the morning, Dugan flushed 6 birds, one bird flew straight down a pole line, I didn't pull the trigger. I must be getting soft! We also got into a few hold over pheasants that we have been seeing since deer season and had made a decision not to hunt.

It was a great season and next year promises to be at least as good.

It's breeding,training...and something unknown.

Yep, lots of hunters and dogs. I think it's a product of all the talk and picture posting on the internet. A guy gets a few birds, talks up the hunting on these message boards, posts a couple pictures and the guys from out of the area think they've discovered a hunting mecca and make the drive.
Used to be people kept their mouths shut but these days some just can't resist being an internet hero. They'll learn eventually when they get tired of sharing their best areas with the internet scouters.

We had a great day with good dog work, beautiful scenery and I even managed to take a bird over my buddies pointer. It was a great end to the season.

Hunted an area for the first time ever. No flushes. Tough walking in several areas with real rocky terrain. Saw the most amount of deer droppings i have seen in awhile. I hope to explore this area in the upcoming weeks.

Didnt see any other hunters and hunted several real good covers on public ground. I usually dont hunt much in the late season due to deep snow so I really wasnt sure whether to hunt up high or down in the lowlands. Found an ok number of birds down low but not like I thought we should so we jumped up top and hunted a few quick covers and found a decent amount of birds for a short time. Found my first real nice deer shed and lots of fresh deer sign. It was a great weekend to hunt. I had agreat season this year!!!!!

Gentlemen,
It was a very good season, even with the rain in the beginning of the season, good spooky bird population and fine fine dog work, made for a beautiful Grouse season.

Re: how was the last day of grouse season .

Finally was able to get out for the first time since deer season. I had to go into the body and fender shop for a knee repair and finally got the green light from the doctor. Picked a spot were I moved a half dozen birds on the last day of the fall season for a 90 minute hunt, but no flushes. The last 6 weeks have been driving me up the wall with the weather we've been having.
