Ole Ruff

I had a great weekend with two buddies that have never grouse hunted before. We flushed 18 birds in two days. I managed to get one of the two I shot at. Both my buddies got shots off but didn't connect. We hunted over my springer and one of his littermates that my buddy owns. It was great to see his fresh pup get on birds.

Me with my pup and bird

my buddies red squirrel, my grouse

myself, my friend and his dog Zeke. he did a fine job retrieving the squirrel he shot.

And one from last time.

Well now... it just doesn't get any better than that! Looks like Copper is getting plenty of work this season. Your buddy has a Springer also, how lucky can one guy get, looks like you guys have got many great hunting seasons together ahead of you, enjoy every minute of it!

It's breeding,training...and something unknown.

That last pic should be on a cover somewhere. Very nice!

Re: Ole Ruff

Thanks guys. The pups are littermates out of my female. It was zeke's (my buddies dog) first grouse hunt. It was great to see him get on birds. He flushed a bird right next to the logging road as soon as we got to the covert. Needless to say non of us were ready for that one.
I will be back in God's country with my brother again this weekend to finish my grouse season. Then it's time to scout new areas for next year.

Re: Ole Ruff

Springers, Grouse, and good friends all just seem to go together.
