Met my dad and cousin at 8am to chase some white bunnies. Went to my favorite spot right off the bat. Upon entering the woods a hundred yards or so I was shocked to see open ground. To my dismay a conservancy group conducted a controlled burn this summer apparently. The entire woods that held my precious rabbits was nothing but scorched earth.
Threw the hounds back in the truck and drove to another location. The hounds bounced a hare pretty quick and pounded him for about 25 minutes before he hopped in front of my 20ga.
The second hare they started pulled right out of the area and began circling quite some distance from where they jumped him. My cousin managed that one.
The third hare ran for over 35 minutes before my dad killed it. I stood alongside him and enjoyed the chase. The hare came by us three times before my dad could get a good killing shot.
Wished we could have stayed out longer. Home by 11:30am. Calling for heavy rain tomorrow so probably won't head out again til Wednesday or Thursday.
