Re: woodcock hunters

I flushed more than i ever have. i think around 15-20. I only managed to take one. Most of the ones i flushed were when the leaves were still on the trees and all i did was trim trees.

Re: woodcock hunters

I don't have a clue, i never keep records. I had a few days that I moved over 30 birds. It seemed to be a great year for them. I haven't hit any good coverts since the season went out but I would bet money I could go find some right now the way this winter is going.

Re: woodcock hunters

I hunted 26.5 hours and flushed 53 birds so I would say I did not run into any significant flights of birds. The best day I had was only 8 flushes. If you hit the flights right where I live, you can move 30 birds easily in a day. However, I did talk to a few guys that got into some good flights of birds, it just didn't happen for me.

Re: woodcock hunters

I didn't keep records, but it would have to be close to 50 or more.

It's breeding,training...and something unknown.

Re: woodcock hunters

Didn't keep track to closely... but between 6-9 each time I went out. The ol' birddog is gettin up there in years though.. so I don't run him as long as I used to. But he's still got it.

Re: woodcock hunters

I'd say at least 6-10 a day for three days. I couldn't walk outside and water any trees without splashing onto one.

Smile its contagious. Its understood in all languages.
