Annual youth pheasant hunt

The Red Rose Chapter of the Izaak Walton League held our 15th annual youth pheasant hunt yesterday. We had 21 kids participating. Almost all went home with at least one bird. We provided enough birds so that all kids could take 2 if they could hit them and a few extras to try to give those who missed another opportunity. We fed the kids and parents a lunch consisting of a whole deer roasted on a spit with all the trimmings. A good tme was had by all.

The Birds:

Preshoot breifing:

Whisky on point:

Whisky retrieving

Ellie May retrieving

Lunch, Dutch and our Club President were at the club at 5oam to get this on the fire.

Re: Annual youth pheasant hunt

Looks like a fun time for all. That deer on the spit is making my mouth water. How do you find the youth for your hunt? We're looking for some new ways to attract more youth to our hunt.

Re: Annual youth pheasant hunt 2011

We get some from a youth field day and some by putting the names of kids who score 100% on their hunter ed course into a drawing and some by word of mouth. We are at our limit of the number of kids we can handle on our property right now.

Re: Annual youth pheasant hunt 2011

How come YOU didn't make it out at 5 AM to help put the deer on? LOL

Thank you John and Whisky for making a great day of memories for the kids!

Re: Annual youth pheasant hunt

Here is a pic of the morning group of youth getting debriefed, then afterwards, they each shot a couple claybirds.

Re: Annual youth pheasant hunt

There should be a article next Sunday in the Lancaster paper about the hunt. Should be good.
