Back after the brown bunnies

We saddled up a few of the hounds and got after the local cottontails again today.
Lawdog came up from Dallas and we hit one of his new spots from last year.
Really nasty multiflora and steep. The rabbits came steady and the dogs ran just great. 3 YO Molly just stole the show, Driving ole Mr. Rabbit right thru the thick nastys.
Also had 12 YO Ab out for a stretch and Molly's mother Lacy, who is due to have pups in about 5 weeks.
Rich took his outstanding young female Brandy and we just had a blast. All the dogs ran just super. Mag will be off the bench next week. She has been in heat since Dec.1, so she has missed some really good gunning, both hares and wabbits

Here are a few pics

Big Big rabbits today

MaMa, You looked tired. Hang in there we'll get you some more huntin in before you hit the bench.

Lawyers and knives, Not sure how well this is gonna work.
Looks like the Frito Bandito with that ammo belt doesn't he ??? LOL

As always, I had a blast. Molly was terrific today. I think with a touch more snow I would have been able to empty my ammo belt.

Re: Back after the brown bunnies

had some good runs today but all ended up going to ground. Seen all but 2. Jess ran 5 I missed one and couldn't get shots on the others. Pete and Gracie ran 3 with the last being the best as the rabbit ran up a dirt road and the dogs stay with it although they had to walk it up the road. Cold and blustery with flurries was the weather. Only problem I seen today is I have to learn to shoot straight again (must need new glasses). Real happy with Jess, she is progressing very nice. That is a nice haul John

Nice!
We managed two today, nothing wanted to run. Had at least seven others go right for the hole.

Re: Back after the brown bunnies

First outing for me yesterday. Had 5 up and 4 circled, but no shooting. Just getting the dogs out, and scouting. I like to run rabbits, not so much harvest them. My grounds to hunt are limited and I don't like to shoot them out if I want future running. It is nice to shoot one to let the dogs know what we're out there for. Good hunting for the rest of the bunny chasers.
