late season squirrels

I never hunted squirrel in the late season is it any different then early season
Any one got any tips and/or advice

i just went out today and got one red and missed a couple other. find their food source and your in good shape. saw probable 12-15 reds and 4 greys.

went out with the 17 hmr and they were running around like crazy even with a shotgun would of been hard but also got a prokie today

I haven't taken my ladder stands down.Think I'll take the .22. Set in them some afternoon if I see as many as I did deer hunting should have a good time

Only thing different I can think of off the top of my head is that if it is real cold and there is a deep enough snow on the ground they won't be active on the ground, generally. You never can tell what them squirrels are gonna do or when they will be out. You can get some squirrels at these kind of times if you target den trees. When they come out to sun or go to the bathroom they can offer you a shot. They normally start to rut around January and if the weather cooperates they will be out chasing each other around.

You canít get them if you ainít in the woods!!
