Re: porkies............

I would be willing to bet that quite a few porkies will be taken during regular firearms season by people who don't read the book but heard they were open season.

Life's too short to hunt with an ugly dog.

Re: porkies............

I passed 5 up while grouse hunting before bear season. Why shoot something if you're not going to eat it.

I'm so far behind I think I'm in first place.

Definately. Just last weekend at camp we were talking about a porcupine pool for the first day until we read the regs on them again.

Re: porkies............

I've had two run ins with porkies and a young dog this year. She pointed the first one, I put a lead on her and walked her past within a few feet of it. She went to lunge in and I corrected her on her e-collar and a firm 'No'. She pointed another one a week later that was at the base making it's way up a tree. All I had to say was no and she circled wide around. I imagine if I'd shot the first one with her watching. . . she'd might of ended up with a snout full this time around. If my dogs are in a box or chained out of sight and it's on our private ground we frequent, I will shoot them. I leave them alone otherwise, as they do serve some sort of purpose.

If guns cause crime, mine must be broken.

Re: porkies............

I can't find them to be anything but a nuisance and quite
destructive to young mast trees and wooden deer stands.
Add in the occasional run in with the dogs and well I will
shoot them any chance I get.

I'd rather be fishing or hunting!

Re: porkies............

If I saw some around a cabin of mine I could see shooting it. But I typically see multiple porkies a day grouse hunting and they really are not much of a problem. We see so many I just bring the young dogs over to one and just roll them with the e-collar (I use the collar on full and just let the dog have it without saying anything). The dogs typically leave them alone after one or two times of that. I'm not about to go killing Porkies just because the PGC says I can.
