Unique Black Squirrel

Seen a black squirrel yesterday out archery hunting that had a white tipped tail. At first I thought it was a skunk. Never seen one like this. Seen a field note in Games News this month about one from Tidioute. I'm hoping I can get him come squirrel season and get it mounted.

Re: Unique Black Squirrel

See them a lot in certain areas here in the North East, my mother saw a white one the other day by her house. I may head down with the camera to see if it's a true albino which would be a first sighting for me.....

Yeah I've seen a fair number of blacks squirrels around here, just not with the white tipped tail.

Re: Unique Black Squirrel

When you see one black squirrel you usually find many. they sort of have the trait inbred, so they can dominate an area.

some parks have large populations of blacks as there is no hunting so the trait stays active.

Re: Unique Black Squirrel

I saw a Black Squirrel years ago during Deer season. I went back during the extended small game season after Christmas but never saw him again. Good luck I hope you bag him.
