i say something similar ... a tired GSP is a good GSP ... only issue is the young one just doesn't get tired enough ... a little nap on the way home & she's ready to raise ---- again as soon as we get home.

I saw one rooster strutting across a field yesterday about 1/2 mile from stocking location.

I use to hear them during spring gobbler too. But I believe the PGC releases a few of them in the spring time.

There haven't been any spring pheasants stocked by the Game Commission since the spring of 2015.

I encounter a few pheasants that made it through the winter every spring. Some of them even manage to reproduce and make it through to fall in this area. Not enough thought to come anywhere close to a sustainable population.

During the storm yesterday I had 3 roosters under my spruce trees. A couple weeks ago I got a limit of hens (surprisingly in just an hour) and flushed another rooster. I didn't hunt yesterday and last Saturday we didn't move any birds but only hunted barely 2 hours (one of my dogs got in a fight with some sort of predator so I called it a day early.) I probably won't get out much next Saturday because of other commitments (though I hope to get out Sunday for several hours to look for grouse.) This time of year I typically cover lots of ground and hunt much of the day with my dogs to try and scratch out a bird. Usually both dogs and hunter are thoroughly worn out afterwards. Short hunts do not usually yield results for me this late in the season.

Ran the dogs today and put up three roosters. The birds are still around. We also pushed out 13 doe.

Put some time in yesterday. No flushes. No pheasant tracks in the snow.

Were you in Allegheny county hunting?
Just curious. Probably going out Monday and haven't been out before Christmas
Haven't had much luck out Hillman or Starlake.
I'm not sure where I'm going to try. Not sure if it's worth driving to Crawford for a short day
