Wet rabbit hunting - anyone else get out?

Today sure was a wet day! Dad and I hit up some game lands this morning with four of our pups. My female decided not to go. Never saw anything like it; normally she is bouncing off the walls when I get my hunting clothes out, but she hid under the coffee table today while I loaded the other dogs, made it pretty clear she didn't want to go. We tried a new piece that had some NWTF co-op signs around and let me tell you, my pup got on a turkey and I really thought we were going to end up repeating the 'left in the woods' thing from the beginning of the season. Took me 2 hrs to find him. We did okay with at least 3 rabbits up, but it was just too wet so we decided to go get lunch and just come home. Anyone else out today doing any good for cottontails (or any other small game for that matter?)

Good to see there are some dedicated beaglers still around, Hunting in a downpour is tuff, back in the 80`s when I had a few good hounds. We had some of our best rabbit days running them in a steady rain. When you work all week and only have a Sat. off to hunt. you have to take what mother nature gives ya....

Yeah, that was kind of our philosophy for the day. If you aren't willing to hunt bad weather in PA, you probably aren't hunting much at all. Not sure I would really call it a downpour, but definitely steady rain the whole time we were out. Naturally it stopped about 15 minutes after we left. It was still a really good morning to be out. Heard a couple other shots, and thought I heard a dog whistle so someone else was hunting small game close by; looks like there were pheasants stocked where we were hunting, so it could have been guys out looking for a few late season pheasants.

Wife, Mentored Youth Son, and I took 2 adult dogs and 2 11 month old pups for a few hours. It was pretty slow today, although we usually do well in that particular area. Will be back at it next week. Might run some dogs tomorrow.

No rain this morning in Clarion County. We hunted for a couple hours and had one good run. My son got this one with his 410 double. Ticks were out in full force.
