I hit the woods in 5C after the rain stopped this morning. The farmer's dog helped me out for about an hour and then had to go back to the house. She's a real sweetheart, but really impatient when it comes to squirrels. She was chasing them up the trees way out of range of my 20 gauge. I wouldn't shoot with her there anyway since I have no idea how she would react to a shotgun blast! Limited out after she got bored of hanging around with me!
I took the flintlock smoothbore out this afternoon. I was tired from pheasant hunting this morning, so didn't go too far in. I sat on a downed tree, and caught sight of at least two. I moved downhill slightly, and almost got a shot at one which ran across another fallen tree. Then it started getting dark so I rolled out. Still a nice time.
