NY Grouse

Has anyone hunted grouse in or near hancock, NY? I usually hunt Potter/Bradford County. How does it compare?...

Re: NY Grouse

Yes, my brother lives in the area!He is located between the East Branch and Bear Spring Mt.. Like all grouse hunting some years are better than others. The one thing I noticed that might seem different between the two areas is that there seemed to be more group flushes of six birds or more per group.Years ago this seemed more common in Pa.,I don't see it as much anymore. That area offers good grouse hunting but make sure your legs are in shape for those hills!

It's breeding,training...and something unknown.

I've hunted grouse in Hancock on the Pa side and it is
pretty decent grouse hunting. I agree with fldbred, those
are some steep mountains.

I'd rather be fishing or hunting!

On google earth, the area looks like it is more mature forrest, instead of clear cuts. I know NY has a lot of fruit trees. Do the NY grouse stay in Mature cover?
