Any woodcock yet

Anyone out looking for and finding any woodcock? I would think the migration might be later this year due to the cold/snow.

The dogs and I have been finding them since the beginning of March. Slow days obviously during the snowstorms but in between, especially on nice days, we've found them. Mostly we've been running in and around Beltzville Lake (near Lehighton), where I live. However, this past Saturday, we moved about a dozen plus at least 1 grouse near Nescopeck State Park. I've also had them in my yard and around my surrounding property a few times, including last night and this morning.

About 3 weeks ago I was hunting chukars at my club and a winged bird flew into a wooded wet area. The shooter and his dog went after it and the dog hit a point, turned out to be a woodcock which was flushed, the chukar was located a few minutes later and recovered.

When you are up to your butt in alligators, it is hard to remember your intent was to drain the swamp. Stay focused!

I have been hearing reports of them around here for almost a month now. I heard one peenting a little over a week ago.

The dogs and I are off them now, they're beginning to nest.

My report from Mercer county - found the first one this year on Feb 27, the earliest date in the past 10 years. I'm out for 60-90 minutes 4 or 5 days a week. Didn't find any between March 5 and March 23. Haven't found any sign of nesting yet, but will stop chasing them on March 31 regardless.

I was not not looking but i did find. Put up two behind my house yesterday.

Found several yesterday in one location. I think I missed a major group by about a week. They are still coming through.
