Why are you shocked? With the reports of higher participation then expected and the success the participants were feeding back I expected more birds this year. I also suspect more people will be buying the permit because of the success stories from those who did participate.

I guess there really isnt a funding crisis and need for a license increase when at the snap of a finger they magically came up with an extra $1 million for the pheasant program.

Duely noted in another email just sent to the AG to use when auditing the GC finances, the poor shape our GLs are in, and the attention given to some management plans while ignoring others.

Plenty of scouting and good habitat makes for a great hunt.

Higher participation than expected? I don't know man, are you yourself high? For umpteen years we were told there what, at least like 85,000 pheasant hunters in PA? Permit system comes out and did they ever even reach 40,000 permits sold? And no way the rest of that difference was youth hunters. I shoot pheasants too so I'm not unhappy but c'mon with the spin.

No Skippy, I am not high nor do I get high! There was more participation than expected. The first year they din't know what to expect and it showed there was interest. Couple that with not knowing how many kids hunted, the participation was higher than they know, that is the reason for the free permit for jr hunters. Lost, did you read the part about getting federal funding for activities that encourage kids to hunt? They expect to use the federal money to pay for more birds. Complain, complain, complain, I hear they are taking applications for Grinches at the unemployment office, maybe they should recruit here.

That is the only good thing about it, less pressure on grouse.

Good news for sure! But the best news by far is that all the crying, whining, complaining by the selfish few here has had no impact on the PGC! THANK YOU PGC!
