Been hearing some Bobwhite calls.

They turn out to be mocking birds that I see in teh evening but, they had to hear the call from somewhere right? I have not flushed a wild quail in adams county ever before though, i've never heard a bobwhite call here before either.

If you enjoy hunting please find a way to give back to the sport. Our children will thank you.

Re: Been hearing some Bobwhite calls.

The only quail I ever saw were released ones. I know of one guy who released a bunch of quail on his land and he was able to find some birds a few years after he did the release. Don't know if they are still around though. I have some in a johnny house that I'm able to listen to at times. I do enjoy seeing and hearing them and I hope Adams county is able to get some as part of the quail plan.

I have never heard a bob in PA. I spent a lot of my childhood in GA and Bob's were a common part of the morning that I took for granted. I sure missed hearing the Bob's. When I firts heard the call the other evening, I grabbed my dog and a flashlight and went on a search. Didn't find anything until last night. It was a Mocking Bird. It may have heard a pen raised quail but, I have never heard one around here.

I have offered our farm for part of the PGC quail program. I am hoping a good friend and family will allow their 550+ acre farm be a part of it as well.

Either way, a Bob call for the last week has really got my blood going.
