Annual bunny hunt

Timberdoodle make the long drive down to my house again this year to look for the elusive brown hoppers. We were joined by jpr and young Brady.

Heading into cover, take note of Timberdoodles weapon of choice for this hunt

The hounds looking for a hot scent

One of jpr's dogs tangled with a killer rabbit but survived

There were yote hunters in the area today tracking their hounds, looking for a winning dog for the local coyote hunt. We could hear the truck struggle to get thru this mud hole.

Brady with the only kill of the day.

It was a perfect day to hunt bunnies, we had quite a few long chases, one going well over 200 yards where we watched the dogs take a rabbit up an old strip mine highwall and back down before it holed up half way back to us.
PAGSPHUNTING and cspot like this.

Plenty of scouting and good habitat makes for a great hunt.

TD took his Wabbit stick along again. Well you are lucky he did not take the chain saw. Waugh!

Looks like a fun day. This time of year you can get some really long chases. We had one yesterday that took the dogs out of hearing range and we had to move up to the dogs. We got it and it was a big male.

Rode the storm all the way home arriving just before 7 PM

Carrying my 28 ga. walking club... a real collectors item....

Great to see Jeff JP and deadeye Brady for another fine day of hunting although missed Steve but JP filled in quite nicely as surrogate grand pa for the day.

I would have looked like JP's dog when I got home if not for the cheese. Saved me. Not nice to forget the chili AND Hunting boots. Thank heavens for buddies!!

And if you look closely at the picture of the mudhole you may se some bunny tracks crossing the road.....

Thank you Jeff for a fine breakfast and doggy soup apres the hunt. Till next season take care!!
