Just Read Something and Had to Laugh

I'm alittle behind with my reading of the PA Outdoor News. Just received my new issue yesterday but am still on the previous one. I just read an article "Windmills are not welcome on state game lands". The article talks about SGL 300, which I live next to. I am in complete agreement about not allowing wind farms on SGL's however I can't help but chuckle and a statement I read in the article. One of the reasons they discussed was impact on certain species. The article stated about the gameland "It's home to a significant population of snowshoe hares"
I've been hunting SGL 300 and the surrounding mountains since I was a kid, it's my backyard. I know every inch of it. For them to make a statement that it holds a significant hare population is utterly ludicrous. Years ago there was a small population which has since been decimated. We stopped shooting them there approximately five years ago because we didn't want to impact the dwindling population. All of the areas except one that once held hare on the gamelands are completely devoid of them now. The one location I did find sign in holds no more than a few rabbits and I'm sure the fishers will take care of them. There is no shortage of fisher tracks anywhere on the gamelands. It just goes to show me the PGC has no idea about some of it's population estimates. I'd love to see their estimate on fishers.

The Pennsylvania Game Commission making a "utterly ludacris" (ludicrous) statement ? It has been known to happen before.

Hay if it kept the noise mills off SGL I would claim there are ivory billed wood peckers and passenger pigeons, with a small population of black phase eastern cougars that are resident. So to me white rabbits is not that much of a stretch. Come to think of it there are plenty of hare on 300 and 310 yes plenty but I could see how the noise mills would hurt recruitment. Waugh!

AR is only a pacifier. You will never grow if it's not in your genes.
