Late season squirrels

Anybody seeing many squirrels in this cold? What time of day? Thinking of taking the .36 flintlock out to try for a few

Saw several squirrel tracks in the snow today. Only saw one squirrel hour before dark. Look for areas the have leaf nest in the trees or hollow den trees. They like to get in out of the cold at night...often more than one will den up together...perhaps body heat plays a role.

I think the squirrels knew we were going to have a cold Winter...during archery season I watched several squirrels at several locations carry leaves up their den trees and poke them inside.

took a 2 mile round trip walk on Monday to put some cams out, this was in the afternoon. Saw a ton of tracks but not a single my guess would be they are getting out mid morning when the sun is above the tree line.

We've seen a good amount while flintlock hunting. As soon as we put the muzzleloaders away, we intend to get back after the squirrels.

If you're having trouble hunting for deer,
don't wish things were easier;
wish you were smarter.

14 degrees the other day and I saw plenty of squirrels for the last 2 hours of daylight. Kinda made me long for some #6 shot instead of the slugs I was loaded up with!

Bigfoot saw me but nobody believes him!

As soon as muzzy deer is over the 32 cal TC Cherokee goes out.
