Thinking about gouse hunting in West virginia

I saw west virginia season goes to end of february has anyone ever ventured to there? Im thinking preston or tucker county possibly.

They just closed the season down there because of the scarcity of gouse.

No idea where those counties are(to lazy to look them up). The best hunting in WV is down south on leased timber company lands. I've also heard some good and bad about the Canaan Valley. I do have a friend who hunts central WV in areas bordering Va and does well, but they put in a lot of time scouting and getting to know the covers. If I didnt have a NY license I'd consider WV.

Plenty of scouting and good habitat makes for a great hunt.

I think they are hybrids.

There's the Greater Canada/Sage Gouse, The Lesser Canada/Prairie Gouse, The Dusky Gouse, and Sooty Snow Gouse and the Ruffed Ross Gouse.

But you're right, the season is closed. All of the Gosyotes have decimated their population.
