Pheasant Stamp

An article appeared in Pittsburgh's Tribune Review today, concerning a fee for a Pheasant Stamp. Ted Onufrak, Pres. of the Pa. Federation of Sportsmen's clubs was quoted as saying Pa. hunters are too cheap to pay up to $40 for a stamp.
What do you guys think? I'd say $40 is a BARGAIN!

Re: Pheasant Stamp

He's right most hunters would not pay 10$ for a stamp let alone 40$.I though wouls support a pheasant stamp, but it seems unlikely we will ever get one.

Re: Pheasant Stamp

Highly needed, but never gonna happen. Funny how some can spend thousands bying a trained dog or getting one trained and hundreds more in vet bill every year, but god forbid we have to buy a 10 dollar stamp for stocked birds that the money to grow comes from the game fund.

O the horrors of a pay to play stamp

Re: Pheasant Stamp

275,000 bowhunters "contribute" over $4 million to the Game Fund.

140,000 bear hunters "contribute" over $2 million to the Game Fund.

The pheasant program costs well over $3 million dollars.

How much do 95,000 pheasant hunters "contribute"?

ZERO.

The other groups cost the PGC relatively little, yet "contribute" a great deal.

The time for a pheasant stamp is LONG overdue.

If you kill ONE pheasant, that pheasant costs the PGC about $50 to put in your game bag. $26 to raise and stock.

The SINGLE costliest single specie program the PGC has, yet, those that benefit, contribute nothing.

Re: Pheasant Stamp

To add to earlier post. All hunters buy the same stamp at the same price whether junior , regular lic or senior. To save the thread I won't voice my opinion on the youth special hunts for a species that is not self reproducing

Re: Pheasant Stamp

Bow and bear hunter contribute because the game commision put a tag in place. Since they have not done it with pheasant it's obvious pheasant hunters don't contribute. Isn't the game commision actually opposed to the pheasant stamp? This is as contraversial as the cross bows were but a smaller audience.

Think before you share your thoughts!!!

Re: Pheasant Stamp

The pheasant stamp is part of the PGC pheasant plan...If they are opposed why would it be in the plan???

Takes an act of the legislature to put a stamp in place, not the PGC.

I was just trying to show the inequity of the situation.

Re: Pheasant Stamp

$40 is too high but $10 would be a real bargain if the birds are there.
