Grouse In Michaux?

I normally don't grouse hunt as much as I would like but I've talked to some people and they've said to go to Michaux State Forest. It is only a short drive for me but if anyone has better knowledge or info I'm all ears.

I will never understand why people can be so blinded by a liar.

Michaux Road up near where the AT crosses used to hold a good many grouse. Not sure if it still does though

Re: Grouse In Michaux?

I spend a lot of time in Michaux every year and if I see a grouse I am surprised. I usually drive 1.5 hrs north to Huntingdon Co for grouse even though Michaux is 5 min from my house.

Re: Grouse In Michaux?

There are some Grouse in Michaux, but in very small pockets. 20 years ago they were plentiful. What grouse are there should be left to populate the area. You can't stock grouse.

The foresting of Michaux has created some good habitat in areas. Hopefully the foresting continues, and the birds can expand in the good habitat.

I have combed the entire forest the last couple years, trying to find those grouse that my father and I hunted when I was young. I have much more success traveling to huntington, or further north.

If you enjoy hunting please find a way to give back to the sport. Our children will thank you.
