Re: 12 gauge grouse loads

12ga reloads, 1-1/8oz 7.5's moving around 1300fps. Deadly on anything that moves, doves squirrels grouse. A bit much for timberdoodles, but beets switching out.

Remember, shoot straight and shoot often.
Good... Bad... I'm the guy with the gun.

Re: 12 gauge grouse loads

I don't always carry a 12, but when I do I carry...

RST's 2.5" 12ga 1oz spreaders in 8 shot.

If guns cause crime, mine must be broken.

Re: 12 gauge grouse loads

When I'm carrying my 12 gauge for grouse I shoot this load.
Rem STS hull, 27 gn Herco, W209 primer, RXP12 wad, 1 1/8 oz. 7 shot.

Re: 12 gauge grouse loads

Reload 2 1/2 Cheddite hulls with 3/4 oz #8 shot. Then add a polywad spreader with a layer of shot on top to fill in the center of the pattern. 15 grains 700 x powder. It's a great Ruffed Grouse and Woodcock load.

This is a super low pressure version (reduced shot and powder) of a recipe out of the BPI Advantages manual. I like shooting low pressure loads out of my 6# 5 oz 111 year old British 12g. Less recoil and safe. BTW I shoot the same load on SC but without the spreader. I can crush targets as far away as anyone else.
