grouse opening day

Anyone else planning on going out on opening day? I will be at camp in Wayne County with a few friends and all the dogs. Really looking forward to it after the youth pheasant hunt got everyone fired up!

Re: grouse opening day

I will be somewhere in SW PA. Going to sit out the morning deer hunt as it is supposed to be 60 degrees. Don't want to get one and miss grouse hunting. Lilly and I will start hunting around 8 am, and hopefully bounce to a few coverts. I may hunt the evening with the muzzle loader, pending on if I get any grouse or not.

The 20 ga got a good cleaning last night, and is ready to go. Lilly is dying to get out there. My grouse clothes will be sprayed down with permethrine tonight and I am setting up a tote for upland hunting.

To say I am excited is an understatement.

I can't make opening day but I'm headed to camp Sunday morning and plan on hunting Mon-Weds.

I don't have ducks. I don't have rows. I have squirrels. And they're drunk.

Re: grouse opening day

I'll be packing for my Maine grouse trip but I might make it out to a nearby woodcock cover. The priority is to get the vehicle all packed up & ready to go so I can get to bed very early. Leaving for Maine by 3AM Sunday.

Re: grouse opening day

Chrispilly,

My family has land near Duck Harbor Pond. My grandfather bought most of it back in the 40's, it's a great area to hunt and fish.

Where are you going to be hunting at?

Re: grouse opening day

I will be in northern PA in the thickets until about 11am. I have to race home to go to a wedding that I really really don't want to go to, but to keep peace with the misses I will go. Headed back up Sunday after the hangover and taking Monday off. I will be chasing birds every weekend the season is open.
