you never know whenre you can get hunting info

I just got a new job about 4 months ago and have been talking with a few of the people I work with in my section of the company. Only a few are hunters. The one lady, a good looking older woman saw my grouse print I won at Mirandas Picnic. I told her how these goofy little birds have been occupying my mind so much this year, and my desire to be in a treestand has fell somewhat.

She told me that one of the mountains she drives on every morning to work is loaded with "those things". She sees them crossing the road in "flocks" and sees them just about every day coming in and going home from work. I drove past this spot a few times on some road scouting adventures, and thought it looked like pretty good grouse habitat. Some grapevines, mixed with laurel and some thickets. Lots of oak as well.

She really had no clue what a grouse is or anything like that. I believe I will be taking the 20 GA to work a few times and seeing what I can find after. Just might be another one of those luck of the draw places. I told her that some guys would pay for that kind of intel, and if I am successful will have to get her something

You never know who can give you just the right info you need. Anyone else ever get tips from unlikely sources that have panned out well?

My first thought was that she is probably seeing turkey.

Hope for your sake it is grouse. Get the dog out there sometime and find out.

That was my thought as well, but she assured me that it was grouse. I asked her how many were in a "flock" and she said 3 or 4 so hopefully it is grouse.

I thought the same thing as well. I asked if she was sure they were not turkey. She stated it is the same bird that is on my picture. We shall see. If it is grouse, ill buy here a cake. LOL
