Re: Fort Drum Grouse Trip

The base has some beautiful habitat with lots of aspen and early successional growth. This was our first time to NY. The setter in the background is our 8 month old Full Blast male pup. He did great and got into 30-40 birds over 2 days.

Re: Fort Drum Grouse Trip

I spent time up there but I never got to see much of the habitat because I spent most of my time crawling through it.

Do you consider yourself a pointer, setter or flusher?

Re: Fort Drum Grouse Trip

Be very careful hunting on Fort drum, there are some areas that have left behind razor wire from training exercises. It should have been taken in, but there are areas where it still remains.

I second that!! My brother's pointer got tangled up in some wire that was left out.

My Brother was in the Army and we quail hunted down south on Army propery and more recently Grouse and woodcock up at Drum, Defiantly birds there!!!
