.22 Ammo Question

Bought 8 boxes of 22 hollow point ammo from a friend of mine who's cleaning out a deceased relative's estate:
Western 22 short hollow point Super-X 27 grain lubaloy coated bullet
For what can I use this ammo?
Squirrels?
Was thinking of using this ammo as a dispatch load for trapped coons, foxes, groundhogs.
However, a solid point 22 shot will suffice.
Thanks.

Re: .22 Ammo Question

That is good stuff! It'll work well on squirrels and trapped critters.

Re: .22 Ammo Question

There was someone in the "Wanted To Buy" section who was looking for 22 shorts.

It does have some collector value if in full boxes and good condition.

Re: .22 Ammo Question

I bought 4 boxes of shorts a few weeks back at $4.29 a box. I felt robbed and lucky at the same time. LOL.

Re: .22 Ammo Question

not to get off subject, but 4.29 for shorts. WOW i can't touch shorts for less than 6.50 a box. so they stay on the counter at the gun shop.

It would work for your trapped animals to dispatch them. Good for squirrel at a decent yardage, not going hog wild. 50-75 100yds possible

2013-2014 1st year trapping
Coon-1
Grinner-3
Squirrel-3

Re: .22 Ammo Question

I bought them to use in a Ruger single six handgun for something quiet. 25 yards or less for small game or trapping dispatch. I had not seen any in years so I bought the 4 box limit.
