Re: Grouse chicks

I have seen one confirmed mom with chicks this week...she had at least 7 and they were small and could not fly. This was an area that had severe flooding a few weeks ago. Also saw a hen they week after memorial day along the road... She would not leave the area so I assume she also had some young in tow.

Re: Grouse chicks

Saw a grouse crossing an access road last week. I got out and walked over to where it cut in to see if there were chicks around. Softball-sized birds began haphazardly flushing and landed awkwardly into nearby branches or what lay beyond on the ground if they missed their target. Saw another loner that was a hair bigger a mile further down the road... Location marked. A few more weeks and I think broke dogs can begin being running on them. 4 or 5 more until I think they'll be ready for all-comers.

If guns cause crime, mine must be broken.

Re: Grouse chicks

I had a little one run across the road at camp this weekend.

I don't have ducks. I don't have rows. I have squirrels. And they're drunk.

Re: Grouse chicks

Saw mom and non-flying little ones on Sat. Mom stood in the middle of the road making sure all were safe before she let me pass.
