Resident Woodcock

While walking through the woods after my turkey hunt this morning, I was surprised that I walked right up on this woodcock. It was busy probing the ground for worms and let me get just close enough to get a couple of pictures.

While walking, I flushed one on some property I own this past Tuesday. Looked for a nest quickly but didn't see any. I also saw birds dancing here in the spring and it looks like good woodcock cover.

Yes they are but that doesn't mean they don't nest in PA as well. Doves, ducks and geese are migratory and also nest in Pennsylvania.
