I am been laid off since a few days before the youth hunt so I been fortunate enough to do some early scouting and a more hunting than usual.
On the youth hunt my buddy and I called in a good bird to a young boy. This was his first bird and he was more than excited!!

Opening day my brother and I both had birds on the ground before 7am about a quarter mile from each other.
My brothers bird had some pretty cool coloring to the wing feathers.
Here is mine. This bird come in with 3 others bird. I called them in about 80 yards as soon as they hit the ground but I couldn't get a shot the first time. These birds come in quick and with no green up yet I couldn't get turned enough to take a shot. I let them lose interest and wander off then called them back in with my gun facing the right way this time!!

I switched this year to a Mossberg 500 20 gauge with a sumtoy turkey choke and a Simmons pro diamond scope. What a turkey killer!
Fast forward to last Saturday called a bird in to a buddy way back in SGL 51 just couldn't seal the deal.
This morning me and a good buddy headed out to a farm that we have never turkey hunted before. We waited and waited for the first gobble. Finally heard one a good ways off so we headed after him. This bird gobbled his head off the whole entire time we closed the distance but just like usual made the first call with no response. We called on and off for a half hour with no luck but kept thinking that I heard one way off to my right but wasn't sure. We got back to the gas well road and made a call two birds sounded off about 200 yards up the road.
My buddy got set up about 30 yards out in front of me and a few soft calls later he had 2 gobblers walking and strutting right up the access road to him he settled his bead on the lead bird and another bird is added to the list!!
10 inch beard with 1 inch spurs
Last week had to have my wife remove this guy from the back of my arm!! Man do I hate ticks.
I still have my second tag burning a hole in my pocket but I enjoy calling them to others more than I do killing them myself.
Taking a buddy out tomorrow to a spot we haven't hunted this year yet hopefully we can put together another good hunt!
Good luck the rest of the season guys.
