May 9 Day 11

Moss must've slept in....out trying to call for a buddy on some York county birds he was into last week. Strangely quiet. Nothing talking on the roost . Waiting for the sun to break thru the clouds and illuminate this field. Hope something fires up soon. Good luck fellas.

I slept in today. I'm headed out about 9am to see if I can find a lonely one looking for a new girlfriend!

Re: May 9 Day 11

Had 5 fired up this morning in York Co. Two jakes that never made a peep walked into dekes, left em walk! My jake decoy had a longer beard then both of em combined, plus they're not what I'm after, maybe the last week. Then as I was walking out I walked up on a hen at 30 yards. Too foggy to see if she had a beard so after a 5 minute stare down, I walked one way and she walked another. She didn't putt or run, was pretty cool actually! Now I have training and it started to rain. Tomorrow maybe

Re: May 9 Day 11

had 2 coming in to a field. I moved around the field edge to close the distance for my 45 min before work hunt. Had the birds answering about ever call. heard them drumming the BOOM! and bb's hit the trees over my head.

I think he stalked these birds because I never heard one call. If not he knew they were going to pull the circle manuver on me off the roost. I ducked and rolled and got out of there before he took another shot. Scary stuff!

Re: May 9 Day 11

Driving rain and dense fog at 3:00am rolled me over in bed and that was that. First day I missed this year and Im disappointed in myself for that. Sleep if for the weak lol. Back in the field tomorrow for some extended action.

Re: May 9 Day 11

Was calling for a buddy this morning before work. Hard driving rain. Called in two hens and had one fired up. Knew it was only a matter of time til ol' Tommy Strutsalot showed his face.

My buddy shot at him and missed on the opener so it took some convincing, worked him in to 20 yards, done deal at 6:32 AM. No strutting, no gobbling. My turn.
