I don't think turkies are like deer. I imagine that they wouldn't be put off from an area they got scared off of as much as deer are. But, truthfully, I don't know for sure.

Re: How soon to go back?

In my opinion, turkeys are pretty paranoid animals and spend their days running away from acorns dropping and branches falling in the woods anyway. You could've been any number things on an average day that gave that bird pause, so get back after em and like Moss said just do something different you should be alright.

Re: How soon to go back?

I am thinking about going to the exact same tree tomorrow that I shot a bird from this morning. There were hens roosting all around me and moved out into the field 20 minutes before I shot him. They will probably be roosting there again tonight and have one of the other gobblers I heard with them.

They only have short term memory, how short? I know I missed and killed the same turkey all in the same week.

Yep...Turkeys get spooked all of the time...Gotta remember, they are pretty low on the food chain (just above grasshoppers) so they spook pretty easy but forget quick. May wanna try a different call too.

Re: How soon to go back?

I missed mine on Saturday and went in on Monday and he was back. He was a little skiddish but he (they), all stayed in the same general area all week until I connected on Friday.
