After leaving the field yesterday at 10:00 to drive by 20 minutes later and see 2 Toms and a jake heading towards my spot, I ws pretty determined to hold out as long as possible this morning. Got to my spot a little late due to some stomach issues but was ready to go when the birds started sounding off. Lots of noise early on and the first big Tom showed himself in the first 10 minutes of light. He kept going on the crest of the hill in front of me and following him was a hen. While she managed to make her way down to about 5 yards from me, her boyfriend never decided to turn my way. So I continued to sit while everything seemed to get quiet. Around 7:45 I caught glimpse of some birds and they slowly made there way towards me....let me say again, the slowly made there way towards me. So, here is where the distractions come in to play. First, the neighbors cat came out, who apparently like to chase turkeys. Soon after that, a massive tree in the woods fell down and almost sent the turkeys running. Finaly, right when I was about to pull the trigger, a chip monk flew up my right arm, ran across my chest and jumped from my left arm on to the tree i was next to- I was so freaked out, I almost had a mess in my pants. Despite the distractions, I overcame and was able to pull the trigger on another beautiful bird..
Took my A400 extreme out for it's frist turkey hunt. This gun with a factory choke and #4 heavy shot knocked this bird stone cold dead at 35 yards....very impressed
