Re: May 1st - Day 4

I've roosted the same gobbler every night of the season so far and have yet to shoot him. I slip in within 50 yards of him every morning and he either flies to the top of the hill or pitches off to the field at the bottom like 200yards away. I cant figure this bird out but when you can see his beard 800 yards away using 12x binos..it kinda keeps ya at it.

On Saturday and Monday I sat-up in the field, he flew down and went to the top of the hill. Yesterday I sat up at the top of the hill, he went to the field. Today, Im setting up inside the woods about 60 yards from the edge of the field and not making a sound till hes on the ground.

This bird is driving me crazy! I wish I could hunt the afternooons right now, I watch him strut every evening in the same spot before heading to roost. He was being pushed around by 3 jakes lastnight and has 5 hens with him. Tough cookie!

I often wonder,Why do people get mad, when you tell them the truth?

"You can't fix stupid!"

Good luck. I can't wait until Saturday, got a new place to hunt that hasn't ever been turkey hunted. And there are a ton of birds around.

Re: May 1st - Day 4

Shot one at 645 this morning. He came in with another gobbler and 4 hens. One hen ended up coming into the DSD's with both of the gobblers in tow. Only one left. 10.25" beard. Will post pics after while. Good luck.
