Clearfield county hunters

Any luck? Any gobbling?

I was up at camp over the weekend and hunted Saturday and Monday. As quiet as it was both mornings I could have heard a gobble for a mile. I hunted two different areas and I didn't hear a thing! I did talk to some hens but that was it. Couldn't call them in to see if a gobbler was with them.

Temperatures are supposed to go up the end of this week and this weekend. May sneak back up and hunt Saturday in hopes that the warmer weather fires them up.

If you continue to do what you're doing, you'll only get what you have gotten.

I've hunted the last three mornings.Heard tons of gobbling and had a few close calls but had to leave hot birds the last two mornings in a row to make it to work.

Re: Clearfield county hunters

I took a kid out for the youth day, and heard a ton of gobbling, and also heard a lot this past Saturday. Today though, not a single gobble. I was talking to one hen for a little while, but she wouldn't come up the hill. The past three weeks or so the only birds I have seen are small groups of gobblers (4-6), and lone hens.

I'm not sure if there are not many birds around camp or they are just quiet? I'm not seeing any turkey sign! Spent Sunday scouting for turkey sign and couldn't find any. Trying to figure out if I should try another area next time out?

I wouldn't hunt an area that had no sign.

Re: Clearfield county hunters

I haven't had a chance to get up to camp much. I'm just going to areas that have had birds previous years and I'm not having much luck finding them. I could have heard gobbling from a long ways off on both Saturday and Monday mornings but didn't hear a thing. Sunday we scouted but couldn't find sign. Wondering if I should drive to another area this Saturday or if the birds near camp are just tight lipped?

Pigger don't know what the deal is up there, just got back from camp and hunted clearfield/jefferson county's for the past 3 days of the season, heard 3 gobblers in 3 days and 2 were far not even close, its like they disappeared, worst season i've had up there in last 7 years.
