Tioga County Birds

Any action in Tioga Co? I am heading up Thursday. Does anyone ever hunt the gamelands near the Tioga Hammond Dam?

It was dead in our neck of the woods. Heard some hens yelping, but did not hear or see a gobbler. We are in SE Tioga.

Not good news.

I'm heading up to Gaines this weekend to hunt Monday and Tuesday.

Give us better news throughout the rest of the week.

Always some nice birds in Gaines! Do a little climbing and they'll be there!

My brother called in 5 in SW Tioga County, and has no idea how he missed one of them.

Re: Tioga County Birds

Birds were quite this weekend I am told. Headed to the cabin in Gaines on Wed. for a few days of fun. I know they didn't shoot em all over the weekend although some knucklhead was arrested for taking one on Sunday.....

Hunted SGL above Rt. 15 Saturday morning and again Monday morning- hiked over 6 miles both days- only heard a single gobble, and never heard a shot anywhere!!! There was still snow up there last Thursday, so it may be a few weeks before things pic up. I did talk to some guys that said they did well over toward the Wellsboro end of Hills Creek (off 287).

Wishing I was at camp!

Re: Tioga County Birds

I just so happened to be in the area this weekend hiking the WRT with my girlfriend and another couple. Hiked all 30 miles from Friday at about fly up time until Sunday afternoon. We backpacked it so we were in the woods for almost 48 hours straight and camped on ridge tops where I was SURE we'd hear some gobbling and we never heard a peep. Saw a little scratching and a couple feathers though.
