What time do you start in?

Just starting a thread to see when guys get up and at it to go after the ever so elusive long beard.

I plan on getting up at 4 and having a cup of coffee quick, followed by brushing my teeth (or face coffee smell on my calls all year) leaving my cabin around 4:30 after a quick check of whats in the bag. making the 25 minute drive to my hunting spot getting me there around 5 at the latest with a 5 minute walk to my setup..

then it's quiet time til the chess match starts

The uncommon man is merely the common man thinking and dreaming of success in larger terms

Re: What time do you start in?

I honestly like to start my morning right at twilight. Why, I'm not a huge fan of just setting up near a rooste site. I really like getting up and mobile, calling and finding them.

I would bet most ppl start an hour or 1/2 hr before twilight and set up near a rooste site.

Re: What time do you start in?

Well I'll be heading up to Williamsport to hunt the first day with my uncle (multiple time world champion turkey caller), who will be filming and doing some calling with me. The way he is, we'll probably be in the spot and set up at 430 so we can sit in the dark for an hour and nap and eat some tastykakes (also a world tastykake champion) before the action begins. I guess I'm going to have to break out the winter gear, with the temp probably going to be in the mid 30s first thing. Not my ideal turkey hunting weather thats for sure...

If I know where the birds are at, I'll be set up no later than 5:15 a.m. If I'm trying new spots (like gamelands), I'll be there @ first light and listen, then make my moves from there.

Re: What time do you start in?

I'll be trying one of my old spots Saturday. Unfortunately didn't get a chance to do any scouting(life gets in the way sometimes), so am going to setup in an area I haven't been to in a while but which has been lucky for me in the past. I will be setup and waiting by no later than 5:15.

Not sure. Depends on where I hunt. Probably sometime between 4:30 and 5:00.

If you continue to do what you're doing, you'll only get what you have gotten.

Re: What time do you start in?

Wake up at 4:30. In my porch rocking chair by 5:30. When it sounds like the birds that roost behind my house on the property that I can't hunt fly down and start walking towards the property that I can hunt, I'll walk across the road and set up. haha...but I would much rather be at a cabin walking the mountain ridges and valleys...seriously.
