Re: federal flight control

I have spent soooo much money looking for a choke that will shoot the Federals. It took a while but I found one, Trulock is now making a choke that was made to shoot the Fed HW #7 shot. And it shoots them well. The Fed HW shot is the real deal. I was shooting again last night, I ran some #5 & #6 Hevi shot through the choke just to see how it would do. And it did not do bad at all. Then I shot the Fed HW #7. And at 27 yds it knocked my 20 lb target over.

Truelock is on to something with this choke.

Don't Gobble at me...

Fullfan, which model/dia is it?

Our forefathers didn't bury their guns. They buried those that tried to take them.

Re: federal flight control

My gun loves the Federal Flight Controls. The 2 oz. load is the best lead shell I've found. I do, however, have a fixed choke barrel. I understand that ported chokes don't shoot them well.

GOBBLE THIS!!!

Re: federal flight control

we shot the federal flight control HW #7 in a 21" browning 20 gauge last year, after trying alot of other ammo. the others were alright, but the HW federals were great. 144 pellets in a 10" circle at 40 yards. that was with a carson turkey choke, nothing real special.

Re: federal flight control

I'm not too sure about turkey loads, but if it's any testament, we shoot federal's 00 buck at work and it has the "flite control" shot cup/wad. The old buckshot loads were good to shoot out to 18 yds, as a general rule due to the spread of the buckshot (1 inch per yard spread). The new stuff, 00 buck patterns are like 6" at 25 yds.. It has increased our shotguns comfortable distance t0 35-40 yds. I attribute it to that shot cup.

Re: federal flight control

Never tried them due to the fact you are not supposed to shoot them out of a ported choke. All my chokes are ported.
