By "yesterday's surprise" I assume you are referring to early opening of trout. As noted by the FBC, this was done to avoid the shoulder to shoulder fishing. The youth hunt probably has a lighter density of people in the woods than opening day so cancelling the youth day would not be consistent with the move by the FBC. Have yet to read anyone posting a source for the report so lets hope it's just fake news.
What is your source would be my first question. I was told that you can not drive into Ohio, asked my PA State Police connections, and my OHP connections which both laughed. Then I asked the guy who told me that. He said " well that is that I heard"
I called the PA Game Commission north central office and they informed me. My son is 17 and has a JR License due to his birthdate and I wanted to be sure he was legal to hunt youth hunt.
They just posted all the seasons yesterday Looks like all the youth hunts are still on
The Fish commission did away with the youth season this year.
