So why should the Fall hunter use a Shotgun?

There is a growing push to take rifles out of Fall turkey. From a state that worries so much about traditions one would think that the tradition of hunting fall turkeys with a rifle would be respected? I'm sure more birds get killed because of rifles. Is that the reason or is it a purist thing?

Is there a push? You may be right as I'm not always up on the latest. I would guess, if true, that it might be a safety thing, particularly with the new orange rules.

There were rumors before the PGC's Spring meetings that they were going to discuss making the Fall season shotgun only. Apparently the NWTF is heavily in favor of that.

Removing traditions from the hunters is the new Norm.

Yeah kind of seems contrary to today’s trend of more more more.

Should they ever do it safety reasons, rifles for squirrels wont be far behind! There are people who believe that calling in a turkey and shooting it with a rifle isn't "British". It was for this reason why I dropped my NWTF membership years ago. If BOC decides to do it, Ill have rethink renewing my hunting license. It would be one more push toward that edge.

Much ado about nothing. There is no push to remove rifles. One lunkheaded commissioner brought it up and it went absolutely nowhere.
The NWTF being anti rifle is exactly why I dropped my membership with them long ago.

Personally I would like to see it happen, especially with the new orange law. I would also like to see it banded for squirrels.
Just my opinion, I won't push for it, one way or the other.

You're of the viewpoint that I want to hear from. Why do you think we should do away with rifles in the fall?
