I second that. I begin every calling set with a Woodhaven crystal call. After whatever time I'm allowing....and as a "last ditch" I will pull out the Woodhaven box call and give it a few yelps. I've killed 3 gobblers over the years when they wouldn't answer to the crystal, but come running to the box call.

As far as my "FAVORITE" goes...……………..ain't no way to quantify that.

I have a couple favorites that were my Dad's...……...one he made, one Smith's he had, and one Quaker Boy I gave him 30 years ago.

I have favorites I use to make turkeys die. It can change from day to day, or it may be the same call for a couple seasons in a row, or more. At one point, it was a Hally Caller Deluxe Box for over 20 years in a row. That call is STILL a strong contender. Just so happens that, currently, THAT call is a KITS Black Widow.

I have favorites that are collector grade calls, historical calls or calls signed by someone "famous" and calls that were made for me by an old friend. Irreplaceable calls.

I agree, Kip is one heck of a woodsman, and talented callmaker. And also a good friend. I’ve tried so many of his, I can’t decide which one I like best.

I am a big Mike Lapp fan and is my go to call and in my vest. Those previously mentioned are all very good callmakers and you cant go wrong with any of them in the turkey woods.

I don't have one of Mike's box calls but bought his push-pin call & love it!! One of his box calls is certainly on my "must have" list!!
