turkey,s in the rain

I watched 8-9 turkeys in a thin hand picked corn field for quite a long time today in the rain, with no chance to get closer than about 300 yards. even with carrying a scoped tikka .223 no shot was possible. most of the birds were smaller jakes with two nice bigger birds. I may try to set up in the morning and try to wait for them to show up in a better posion for a shot.

Best of luck getting on them. Looks like rain again today with Wed & Thurs clearing up but heavy rain back again Friday.

I went to vote at 7:15 AM on the 5th and went straight to the woods to set up and wait for the turkeys to get there, to late they were already there and bunched up in the upper end of the corn field standing it the rain with no chance for a shot. its to rain tomorrow and I will be there before day light to catch them as the get to the corn field, today I found the spot where I can see over most of the field for a under 200 yard shot. this what the corn field looks like from 284 yards away.

there is a good load of standing corn as the wet weather has slowed down the harvesting due to wet fields and high moisture content.
